The Astronaut Chronicles - Paintings By Scout Listfield

I like these paintings. I imagine a story where an 60s era astronaut sudden appears on the scene. He is lost and unable to communicate with others. No one has seen his face because they have yet to look beyond the reflection glass of his helmet. They are unable to do this because a strange force prevents anyone from touching him or getting within several inches of him.

After escaping a military hospital he takes to wandering across North America to learn of his heritage and try to remember the man he once was. He can only be seen with the naked eye. No recording devices can capture his mute image.

This would make a cool six chapter comic book miniseries. I would use that medium to write a critique of the state of affairs in 2010 where surface is everythings and lies are believed as truth. Each issue would cover a different theme like, birth, innocence, knowledge, truth, fame, war and death.

Is the Astronaut here to save us all or to destroy us? Is he here to judge us for our sins or has he come to lead us into a new age of man?

What follows are the paintings that I would choose for the covers for my six issue limited series. Check the link below for more examples of these cool works.

And I'm finding that FLORENCE AND THE MACHIONE works great as a soundtrack right now. Thanks again for enlightening me to that as well.
