Is This The End?

Grumpy Cat is getting her own movie where she will talk. The combination of voice and cat has to be perfect or the whole operation falls apart. It might make a cute comedy on the Disney Channel but a full length feature has to be funny throughout or this cash cow is dead. I am of mixed feelings about this. I don't want my dear Grumpy Cat spoiled by some lame ass film but I really could see her having some great adventures. Maybe a documentary would be a better way of preserving and extending her fame? But a family comedy movie is what we are likely to get first.

If you take Tard you must also take her brother Pokey. I have a picture in my head of Pokey being the cat next door who keeps coming over to commiserate with Grumpy Cat on how terrible it is to live with us human.

"This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy," Garner said. "You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character."

A cat making grumpy comments? This is different from Garfield...how?

This one is alive and if we called her Garfield someone else would get all that royalty money.

I don't know. Can anyone remember a film that had a premise based entirely on something that spun out of the internet? Films take a long time to produce and I can't help but think that this will just go the way of something like the Farmville or Snuggies movie plans.

I'm still holding out hope for "Goatse.cx: The Movie."

Serves you right for listening to my commenters. Somethings you just can't unsee.

And I had a vision of this Grumpy Cat film being a huge thing. You could do a great Incredible Journey cross country quest with Pokey.

Oh, believe me, I already knew. One does not spend as many years as I have trawling the backwaters of the Interweb without seeing some awful, awful, things!
