10 tra la la true facts about the Banana Splits

I wish I could write for METV a channel that should be available on the satellite but is not. I really enjoy their daily articles on various pop culture topics from the 70s and 80s. - the time in my youth where I was all over TV, music, movies and ever other great thing about those times. I want to find a way to contact them to see if I can write articles for them. Or see if could write one good enough for them to post. So how do I do that??

You all know there is nothing I hate more than the Banana Splits and their horrible TV show. It has bad live action skits, bad serialized live action programs and lame cartoon. It was like what children's TV would look like in HELL.

And who the hell are these things. Are they employees of six flags. Why are they NEVER seen interacting with the paying public? Or are they all sex offenders who have retraining orders to stay at least 100 feet from all women, children or handicapped males?

This is the link to the MeTV page. I can't believe this B.S. I am convinced that this puff piece was written by people who have never seen the show. No matter what your childhood memories are of this abomination - WATCH it all as an adult and recoil in shame from the mess that is this program.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four… If you are not singing "Tra La La" by now, you were probably not born in the 1960s. Though it ran for just 31 episodes at the end of the 1960s, The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was one of the most beloved pieces of children's entertainment of the era. The infectious theme song certainly helped.

The variety show, a sort of Laugh-In for little kids, centered on the fantastical musical group of a dog, a gorilla, a lion and an elephant. The Hanna-Barbera production featured bubble gum music, comedy skits, cartoons and action shorts. After its last original airing in 1970, the series lived on in reruns as The Banana Splits and Friends Show. Subsequent generations have fallen for the animals' rockin' charms thanks to a popular Liz Phair cover song and a 2008 reboot.

If you want to contact MeTV, just go to the link you provided in your post, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "contact." It gives an email form and their street address in Chicago.

Love the theme tune (when performed by punk band, The Dickies) and loved the cartoon The Arabian Knights and that enough for young me :)

Haven't seen more than a few clips from the show in the last 30-odd years, so I expect it doesn't stand up now. But those were simpler times and by British standards of the early '70s, this was bizarre, psychedelic fare for young minds ;-)

And there was a cartoon where the wizard would proclaim "size of a..." and turn in to that animal.

Oh don't watch it today. You will never be more disappointed. Keep you good childhood memories. You will feel like a fool for ever finding this garbage entertaining. It's embarrassing actually. I challenge anyone to watch one episode and say they enjoyed it. Show it to a kid. They will hate it to.
