How many times did I see these ads as a kid and wondered what would actually arrive in the mail. There were myths and stories but nothing definitive. It wasn't until the Age of Information that I was able to search out photos of these products actually in their final assembled form. They look like they would survive one summer afternoon and that's it but what a glorious adventure it would have been.

Sea monkeys were my jam.
They weren't real monkey's you know. And they didn't wear crowns.
But they did live in water. I was more the X-Ray glasses and Throw your Voice kind of kid. The ventriloquist thing was really a letdown. Made you sound like Daffy the Duck.
I would have been into ventriloquism but I have an irrational fear of those puppets.
Who needs a puppet anyway. Any inanimate object will do.
