Now I HAVE to see at least one animated episode of 'Big Bang Theory'. They did that claymation Christmas episode of 'Community' that was great so it's not totally off the mark to hope for the same kind of creative treatment for BBT.
I like equating 'birthers' to cockroaches because regardless of what we try to kill them with they will never go away. That is until the next white President takes office.
What about the THINGS that are already here, and have tentacles, and bulb shaped heads, and who hate humans with the white hot passion of a thousand suns? When do we focus our rage on them???
You would think that I would be safe in an indoor pool but apparently even chlorine doesn't discourage the cephalopod from attacking me when I just want to relax with my water wings on.
What else could the letter X stand for when you are an old time comic geek like me? The Children of the Atom...mutants...bound together in a world that hates and fears them. Even back in the mid-sixties, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were savvy enough to realize there were real world prejudices that could be mined for comic book stories.
Suddenly your black neighbor is not such a threat when there are people out there who can destroy buildings with a look or read your mind. How would the ordinary world react against a villain whose experiences in the Holocaust (Magneto) made him the most dangerous terrorist on the planet? If you knew he was obsessed with never experiencing the same kind of genocide again, would you be with him or against him?
Believe it or not there was a time when the X-men was a reprint book on the verge of cancellation until a little Canadian mutant (and several others) named Wolverine joined the team in the late 70s. There has been no stopping the title ever since. There are no fewer than ten titles currently printed a month that contain mutant characters. The X-Men aren't going away anytime soon.
Tarsim is one of my favorite directors of all time. He is a visual genius and has shown his skills in such movies as 'The Cell' and 'The Fall' (both which I highly recommend). His next movie, 'The Immortals' looks like a mess to me but that could be only first impression based only on this short movie trailer. I have hope that this will be as thrilling as his previous efforts have been. I just have my doubts. Theseus appears to be the main character. He was also the Greek Hero that fought the Minotaur in the the Labyrinth so I hope that piece of mythology figures prominently in the film.
You can't really compare working in a school to working in an office so I have no idea what it's like to be a drone in a cubicle. A teacher has a lot more control over what they do in their day, how they choose to present lessons and just when it's appropriate to slack off when you need that bit of a recharge.
Planning for a substitute is often more work than just coming into the school when you are sick. One good thing is that I rarely got real sick after a few years because spending 10 months of the year in the human germ factories that are schools really builds up your immune system.
I found these posters on Super Punch that remind me of those great ones from WWII. Just don't show them to your office manager or it will be seminar time and I understand that those are just as boring and annoying as staff meetings or professional development days are for teachers.
Don't watch 'Deadliest Catch' when you are already feeling bummed out. Empty crab pots are depressing and I am not even ON the boat. Also the 'Wizard' almost lost a guy for not keeping his feet down on the deck. And then...a rainbow appeared but that didn't make any difference. Gah!
I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.
I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.
I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.
And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.
So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.
Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.
This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.
