Characters Kicked Off Sesame Street

 

After attending a black power rally, Franklin was radicalized and converted to Islam. His constant confrontations with what he percieved to be the "lilly white power structure of Sesame Street that was only interested in keeping the black muppets down" caused him to be fired. Angry and desperate for money he and his castmate Burt robbed Mr Hooper's store, killing the night manager in the process. Accepting immunity for his testimony, Burt pointed the finger at Muhammed F. Iggy Muhammed (the name Franklin took after his religious conversion) as the mastermind behind the robbery and F. Iggy was given 30 years in prison. Believing he was unfairly targetted by "the white man's justice", he began to preach his radical agenda to anyone in prison who would listen to him. As a jailhouse Imam he stood as a symbol of the struggle between whites and blacks. However, soon his angry rants against his own community began to alienate and marginalize his message. At that point even former friends like Nelson Mandella refused his letters and phone calls. After only serving 11 years of his sentence he was shived in the shower by other Muslims who saw him eating a pork chop sandwhich. Follow the link to know more about other fired characters.
