Contact Me Noah If It's Not A Prank

I just wanted to thank all of you followers who take the time in their busy lives to read my stuff. I am even more impressed with those who actually are impressed enough to comment. Good or bad you are at least what I would call a 'FAN' of the 'Cave or Cool'. Through you comments I maybe know 10 or 20 of you max. By word and reply we have connected. You weekly people who comment are just as great as my daily commenter's who are 'hard core' warriors for the Cave.

So what the hell is with the other 200 of you? I know I may lose half of you for saying this but you follows remind me of people on Tumblr who will say they LIKE my photo but will never reblog it. What the fuck in the difference between the two? I don't post porn on Tumblr so there is nothing not safe for work you can secretly admit you like but have clearance in case the wife or boss checks out your Tumblr. I get that.

And don't get me started on how people return messages on Tumblr. They just want followers but like Blogger refuse to believe that anyone who follows them is anything more than a number on a list.

Two weeks, someone named Noah who I couldn't back trace (never a good sign) asked me to go out for drinks and chicken wings and never got back to me. Guess I saved me a beating when I maybe could have actually had a live friend. Quiet, invisible followers in all medium just suck. How do you Twitter freaks do it?

I think it's my sharp and witty comments that scare them into silence.

Yeah, you know I really don't understand the psychology of internet use (I work in the the print media) and I'm probably doing it wrong (like using my real name and not hiding behind an anonymous psuedonym). Mind you in my work I come across a lot of people who get really worked up and come into the newspaper office and rant and rave about subjects that they are passionate about and they want you to do a story about that, but when you suggest they write a letter to the editor and then explain that you must include your real name along with it they suddenly become all meek and waffly.

Perhaps something of the same happens on these blogs. I do know that in print media when there is an opportunity for interaction we're lucky if we get 10% of our readewrs to respond. Same goes for radio.

At 20 regular commentators you're averaging that 10%, which is quite good. As for the rest, I don't know.

As for Twitter... don't get me started on Twitter.

I only have "36" followers on the EB blog (and 2 of them are me, how this happened is just way too crazy to explain)and i do get comments which i love and i should post more there.
On Tumblr i have over 400 followers and for the most part most are silent and don't reblog or like but have a regular bunch who seemed to like and reblog my posts. Except when i add what i think is a hilarious comment to to a picture...oh look i'm rambling here and not making much sense..i better go tumblr some, gotta post today's Betty and Veronica cover!

Hey Cal, if you ever come to Mexico City (don't be afraid to melt) you can email me and we can meet for lunch and a guided tour. I'm a real follower, but don't expect a die hard fan of the Cave.

Sorry for causing you trouble! I have been preparing to paint our townhouse and just had no time for online this week! Many apologies.

I really would like to email you but I'm embarrassed to say I don't know where to find it. I don't see it on your page anywhere. (Now the internet may laugh at me.)

So, just to reassure you it's no prank on my part. Let me know what to do. ;)

Thanks!

kheighton@hotmai.com.

That may be my fault since I switched over to a new ID when I max out of my allowed pictures and didn't update that new profile.

There you go. Email away! I figured it was hotmail and added the "l". Hope that was right. Let me know if you didn't receive it.

I know I get quite a few comments on my blog, but they are coming from the same basic group of people. Who knows if the rest of them even look at the darn thing. Some of them are probably not even still alive...

For the most part people in the "blog" world are probably no different than anywhere else. Maybe most are part of the "silent majority." What the hell do I know? Sometimes I post something that I think is really good and it get's squat for comments. Sometimes it's the reverse.

I twitter-ish. I tried it for awhile. Now mostly I burn my feed with it and that's all. I have met some cool people on there though.

It's just part of the blog game I guess. I average about 10 comments a post but have a lot more followers. That's why ultimately you still have to do it cause you enjoy it.

Dear Sir,
You pose an interesting question. I'm still pretty much a newbie so I don't have an answer though I think I see similar patterns in nature in how animals herd and flock. No doubt some one is working out some algorhymy thing that could explain.

All I know is sometimes I feel a bit down that very few comment on my blog. I would love even "Your doinkness makes me laugh, not in a good way, not in a ha ha way, but in way in which you are laughing and spitting. You do the impossible and both suck and blow at the same time." I would love that sort of feed back, but most days it is just silence.

Not bitching, just pointing out there is something going on with all the blogs and I can't say what it is.

PS. i'd give you the zombie rabbit award for blogging but I understand it is for more horror type stuff.
