Last night's episode was another punch to the gut but with a fantastic performance by Gerald McRaney as a drunk retired cop who finally hits rock bottom only to be caught by another cop on his own difficult journey. It's all terrifically compelling television and we do live in a Golden Age. I hope that come Emmy time that somebody remembers this show.
McRaney currently has a recurring role on TNT's rough-edged LAPD drama airing Wednesdays. He plays Det. Hicks, a retired police officer who once trained Officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz). Now living on a boat in Marina del Rey, Calif., Hicks drinks too much and is a bit of a cautionary tale for the divorced Cooper, who is facing being a gay man alone at midlife.

Sounds good! Is TNT one of those pay to view channels, or is it part of our regular cable?
He also has regular spots on the Incredible Hulk which I have been watching lately.
I download off the net.
Had to skip this post this morning since I had not watched it yet.
But yes that was good. He plays a full out comedy role on Mike and Molly, one of the shows my fiancee will watch with me. To see comedy/to full drama is impressive.
I also liked him on a show called Longmire last season. Small role but well done.
Good show. It seems like a lot of retired cops or gumshoes live on a boat tied up at the marina.
Not a bad life.
Gerald McRaney is one of those guys who never really gets enough props for what he does, precisely because he's so solid at what he does. He doesn't go for Grand Acts Of Thespianship; he just provides quietly solid portrayals of characters who feel real. Love the guy.
