Carmine Infantino was one of the great old school comic artists. Like his contemporaries, Jack Kirby and Joe Kubert, his work was so iconic that you could immediately recognize one of his covers on the comic stand. When I started reading comics in the 70s, much of his best Silver Age stuff from the 1960s was reprinted in the large 100 page treasuries and that was where I really got to know him. I have been a fan of his work ever since.
In his prolific career he created many character that still are used to this day. These include several Flash characters including Wally West, Iris West, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Mirror Master, and Gorilla Grodd, as well as the Elongated Man and Batgirl.
"There are few people in this world that have had as much of an impact on the industry as Carmine. He bridged both the Golden and Silver Ages of comics, shepherding in some of the most successful periods in our history and setting the course of our characters that is still seen today. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will remain forever." - Dan DiDio

Cool Tribute to a great talent....
He was a good man... I met him and had him sign a "Posion Ivy" card ... (He was the one who created this character)
I just picked up Flash #300 (1981), just amazing art, Carmine's the 'signature artist' for the speedster, no argument.
Just a joy to read, also liking his brief DD tenure in the '70s as well. As an artist who was considered 'past his peak' in the 70s, it was ironic that Marvel put him on 'Star Wars', not knowing the movie would change.., everything. Certainly kept him in the limelight for a few more years than most artists.
It was very cool that DC allowed him to finish the Barry Allen Flash title in the early '80s.
What a nice swansong to Barry's creator.
Rest in peace, Mr. Infantino, and our humble thanks.
Sorry, 'DD' was Marvel's 'Daredevil' for some of you not familiar.
Classic stuff! Great artist!
I have a great story about him over on CCD... what a great guy, so humble to the end.
