RoboCop Trailer 3
If they keep putting out trailers that show all the action I might not even have to see this one. Of course I WILL see it because it's Robocop but can we all agree that the original was perfectly fine and didn't need a remake? I would have liked to see all those talented people do something NEW for a change.

The original was perfectly fine; however, I think this is one 80s movie that does need a remake. The original one had the story but didn't have the CGI to show the action. Of course, this is coming from a guy that is still waiting for a remake of Krull.
KRULL WAS PERFECT...NO ONE NEEDS TO REMAKE KRULL. DON'T BE PUTTING THAT IDEA IN ANYONE'S HEAD!
Sorry for yelling. I have a deep deep love for that goofy movie. How can you not want to weild the GLAVE out of all the weapons you can throw at someone? And Lysette Anthony. Forget about it. I would rescue her anyday of the week.
As a fan of the original I'm curious about a remake, but I'm still rather biassed. I think the first still holds up to a number of social issues (some, not all).
This one appears to be trying to address different issues, although its difficult to say how effective it will be. Sure Samuel L Jackson as a war mongering patriot isn't exactly subtle, but than again neither was the original.
I've noticed that remakes tend to be from thesci-fi/horror genres while romance, comedy or action films tend to be ripped off more than they are remade. Horror and sci fi tend to relish in effects technology and current social anxieties, which are things that are constantly changing, so they are easy targets for remakes.
There also seems to be an effort to remove anything that was "campy" about the original to better connect with current audience, which often just removes all the charm it had going for it.
