Supergirl - Episode Two

The special effects are impressive for a superhero show and Melissa Benoist is adorable and spunky and all the best things that Supergirl should represent. Sure there are some big comic book like speeches and the writing rarely rises above the simple level but that is okay with me. Many small girls will sit and adore her for all the ways she keeps trying to solve these larger than life problems and they will understand what is going on. Good is good and bad is really bad. That is what makes this one fun for me. I don't need it to be anything more than it is. Monster of the Week is just fine with me.

It's as light as a popcorn fart and still, I don't care. This is SUPERGIRL. We don't deserve something with such good effects and production design. Everyone on screen seem at the top of their games and that is what I love to see from network TV.

Maxwell Lord is Peter Facinelli? - fantastic casting by a guy who can play asshole in his sleep. And for all the reasons I hate Calista Flockhart, she is more than perfectly cast as the soulless Cat Grant - uber bitch and media baron.

The idea of Kryptonite emitters that steal Kara's powers so that she can be trained in self defence methods without risking the life of the trainer is a good idea. It also gives Kara a weapon against fellow evil Kryptonians like her aunt who felt the sting of a kryptonite blade.
