From Start To Finish - By Jim Lee And Alex Ross

Before the Internet really took off Wizard Magazine was a fun resource about comic books and the comic book industry. They also covered toys and artists and writers and had a price guide in the back. They did try humor but often that fell as flat as a lead fart. They could have been accused of maybe kissing the asses of the boys of Image Comics but their content is a valuable resource if you want to understand those times when Image Comics was at once the death and last hope for the industry. It was much more complex than that and Wizard got the news right from the creators. They did great Top 10 lists, showed fabulous unpublished art from top artists and was something that I look very much forward to reading each month. But then it died with a sad little whimper. A magazine that was almost 350 pages each month was reduced to something that didn't resemble it's proud origins. They were late getting into the Internet game. With their high profile they could have been THE place to go for information and news about the entirety of Pop Culture, especially comic books and superheroes and the movies made about them. Unfortunately that boat has long since sailed. Wizard never took their BRAND to the next level so it died. But for many years it was the monthly Bible on comic books.

I just finished watching Season 1 of that series, Robert Kirkham's Secret History of Comics, so hey, I know what Image Comics was! LOL

I miss wizard magazine. The web is fine and all but magazines are comforting.

I agree j. Nothing like a 'Famous Monsters of Filmland' in your grubby mitts, enjoying the hell out of it.

Or Starlog. That was a sweet read too.
