"Glory To Hanuman"

Black Panther made a reference to Lord Hanuman when M’Baku, leader of Jabari tribe, said “Glory to Hanuman” during the first ritual fight between T’challa and M’baku. But Central Board of Film Certification beeped out the word “Hanuman” to avoid hurting religious sentiments of people in India.

Jabari tribe is known for worshiping the gorilla god. The gorilla god has been called “Man-Ape” in the comics. But the word was changed to “Hanuman” in the film as a nod to Marvel fans in India.

 

I LOVE all these small details about Black Panther. It's so great and I don't think I have had such an awesome relationship with a movie since the first Star Wars film. It's a special time for me. I must have watched my screener at least ten times this months and it NEVER gets old.
