I know they are little germ covered terrorists but if you like them you should care about their mental health during this scary time where no one has the answers.
This is definitely a tough time for kids. My job is essential and my wife and I had to make the difficult decision to have her and my 6 year old stay with my mom and dad until this passes to minimize the chance of my wife and daughter getting sick (my wife is at an increased risk). Now those two and my parents are hunkered down. While they're only 10 minutes away, it feels like miles at times. I still get to see them as I drop off all groceries in the garage, so I can wave from the driveway, plus we're using Google Hangouts and Zoom for bedtime prayers, reading, some meals, and other things to try to stay as connected as possible.
It's tough, though. I've never been away from my little one or my wife for more than a week and now we're almost at two weeks. My daughter's teachers, folks from our church, and of course my wife and the grandparents have done a great job of reaching out to her and keeping her connected. We're very fortunate that we were able to make that decision (my wife's work is exclusively from home now) and my parents are retired and close by, but I know so many kids don't have that kind of stability. God bless the teachers. I know my daughter's have been awesome. Our local schools have done everything they can, even distributing food to the families in need.
Really lets you know what is important, doesn't it? Glad you got a handle on things and your girls have you to count on. I wish they would have given us some warning. I don't mind being a part of the end of civilization but I would liked to have gotten a little bit of warning. You have no idea how hard it is to get silver bullets in this crisis. I can hear the werewolves howling right outside my window.
I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.
I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.
I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.
And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.
So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.
Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.
This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.
