Snowpiercer Episode One - HBO

What a time for the TV series adaptation of the Korean movie which was itself as adaptation of a French graphic novel. Doesn't get anymore globally relevant than that for a story that literally spans the globe and all levels of class problems on board a train which is a symbol of our society.

I am currently reading the graphic novel as well.

This one stars Jennifer Connolly, who I still say needs to gain about 20 pounds. She is much too skinny but that look is perfect for the role. She is in 'hospitality' and is the radio 'voice' of the train - an extremely powerful position on The Train.

The story is terrifyingly dystopian which you can see from the trailers for the film and for the HBO series. I watched the first episode tonight.

The concept was always very solid and now with 1001 cars this series could go on forever with a fresh mystery to be found in each link of the chain. I found the whole thing to be very compelling and interesting. Imagine if you haven't seen an apple in six years.

You will never appreciate a grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch more in your life.

The main character, a cop in a former life, is elevated from the 'Tail' to investigate a murder in the forward cars where the rich live. Now it's a dystopian murder mystery that I hope I will enjoy solving. It's also interesting that our former cop is also the leader of the rebellion in the Tail so he is suddenly in a position to help his people. It does all seem fortuitous for our hero, the only homicide detective on the train. He is played by Daveed Diggs.

This one is not, however for the faint of heart as their are many scenes of bloody violence as the Tail begins their long awaited act of rebellion.

Episode One sets the seeds for a compelling story as does the murder investigation. This story is ambitious and seems meticulously planned to pay off eventually. That is the hope I have after the first hour. I am in.
