Maybe it's one of those transitional period concept items. Something they tried between "slowly walk shoulder to shoulder at the people shooting at you" and "stay the hell down when getting shot at".
I knew they looked familiar and it finally clicked where I saw them.
They are from an anime that came out last season in Japan called Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
The muskets are used by a character named Mami Tomoe. She can spawn a number of them at a time, and just pulls a different one every shot.
The buckler is used by Homura Akemi and has an ability to stop time/bring her back in time, and contains explosives/grenades.
I would post some images, but the img tag isn't allowed. If you google image search "Mami Tomoe" and "Homura Akemi", you should easily find pics of the items shown above.

No one of any consequence, I assure you. Just an ex-tech who got broken a number of years ago and thinks far too much for his own good. I do have a lovely lcd window to the world though.
As for blogging, maybe someday. I tend to be one of those people that don't really talk much until they have something to say.
If it's any consolation though, I made this account just to respond to this blog. You do a great job at it and make the internet a more interesting place.
