If This Was Once Your Cutting Edge Recording Studio, You Are My People
The best mixed tapes (with commentary) were made with such a device. I even used to design special case covers for each tape and did the lettering with my fine calligraphy pen.
With a buddy of mine, I also produced numerous half hour entertainment shows where audio clips from TV shows (like 'Happy Days') were used to produce pretend 'man on the street' interviews. We also talked about the latest music and movies. We were 'Entertainment This Week' before such shows were cool.

I've got a reel-to-reel and I still use it in my studio!... ah the good ole days.
I did the same thing. I wish I still had those tapes. I bet they'd be hilarious to listen to now - so many years later.
I made fake radio programs with humorous shows broken up by silly commercials and music. Loved that thing.
I wish I knew you back then guys. We would have made fantastic programs. Those were good times.
Gawd yeah, I had one EXACTLY like that when I was an adolescent! I thought I was so friggin' high-tech, LOL!
You must be really annoyed to refer to your younger self as an adolescent. Was your recorder like mine and let you plug your record player into the tape deck?
I have a vague recollection of a special plug in that allowed the sound to come out my stereo speakers, yes. Or I could just be hallucinating again. We oldsters get that way, you know.
I am starting to think that you don't really exist, Debra.
And here I thought I was the only one. My best friend, GW and I made all sorts of silly audio shows with one of those things when we were in high school. We`d mail them to a friend who`d moved out of town. I wonder if he still has them.
In University we would have a doobie and record us doing simple things like trying to order pizza while high off our asses. Funny stuff.
