League of Extraordinary Bloogers

Remember when Halloween was a big deal? I mean, a BIG deal? What was the most legendary costume you ever wore? What would you dress up as this year?
Luke Skywalker - the summer after Star Wars premiered I made myself a costume from that movie. Luke was the easiest to do if you could fine white pants, shirt, wraps and belt and some white runners. I even had my dad make me a simple lightsabre with a high powered flashlight and a blue plastic tube. The effect looked good when the lights in the gym went down. I also danced with Wendy Hutchinson to 'Your The One That I Want' - from Grease and we won the competition.

The summer after the premiere? Clearly you had found the pulse of a future trend. You were a regular cosplay trailblazer!

HELL DAMN RIGHT I was.

By golly Cal, that sounds like a great night. Did you and the Wendybird have a thing together?

Never went as Luke. Always prefered the villains.

But Luke was an easy costume to make. I adored that Wendy, she was the smartest girl in class. I kissed her on a field trip once when she was too afraid to get across the suspension bridge in Souris Manitoba

I was way pre-Star Wars, so it was usually Frankenstein or Dracula. One year I dressed as a cannibal, with a bone thru my nose and everything. It was a big hit at my parents adult Halloween party.
No Wendy's in my teen years. Just the one that sold burgers.

So you are saying you attacked the local Wendy's dressed as a cannibal? Where is law enforcement when I NEED THEM!

I hear you on the heroes being easier considering I was just shy of the 5 or so grand worth of fiberglass for an authentic Biker Scout uniform... My uncle on the other hand rocked the spot-on homemade Vader outfit long before cos-play...he also made a perfect Skeletor costume from the Dolph MOTU movie.

Your uncle was a man ahead of his time.
