I'll use a phrase that you like and say those particular comics were 'dead to me' right when they came out. The elephants graveyard is too good a place for them. Disrespects the elephants.
I knew there was a reason I liked you. I see little girls pick up those digests in the grocery store line and I just want to slap those books out of their hands...but then I would get arrested...AGAIN!
Jeez. You guys ever READ an Archie comic? When I co-wrote the official history a couple years back, I had to read hundreds of them and found they were surprisingly good and much more innovative than one might expect! The earlier ones were definitely better but within the past couple of years, they've become quite the big sellers again. And yes, there's some repetition in themes over the years but some of the writing by Frank Doyle and George Gladir (who just died yesterday) is genuinely funny! And Dan DeCarlo, Bob Montana and some of the others are among the best humor artists AND Good Girl Artists ever! Take off the blinders, fanboys. There's a reason Archie is the ONLY company besides DC and Marvel to survive since the Golden Age!
Sorry Steve, I know this is a hot topic with you but I had to suffer through the Bible Archie phase and that all but destroyed any love I could have for the franchise.
Umm...you DO realize that Archie didn't DO those religious Archie comics don't you? A Bible publisher licensed the characters and hired former Archie artist Al Hartley, himself a born again Christian, to draw them. So if you don't like Archie, fine, but don't dislike them for something they had no control over.
There's also THIS kinda stuff! http://archieoutofcontext.tumblr.com
They had a fun TMNT run back in the early 90's... It even crossed over with Archie for a special 1 issue deal (much like that crossover with the Punisher)... And they do have that "Afterlife with Archie" book which may or may not end up being good... We'll have to see... The "Afterlife" book should at least be a breath of fresh air for any stale storytelling...
I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.
I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.
I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.
And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.
So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.
Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.
This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.

How can they put out the same story all the time and still get away with it after all these years?
The only "good thing" that I can say about the Archies.... is that is where the Groovy Ghoolies early 70's cartoon came from them...
I hate Archie comics. Phew, it feels good to get that off my chest.

I would like some for sure.
