AMC - The Terror - First Trailer

It's the feel good series of the winter. The story of the Franklin Expedition is not for the faint of heart.

Read the book by Dan Simmons "The Terror" which this is derived from. Pretty thick book but engrossing as hell. Will be right there to see this one. It looks good. Ridley Scott too.
PS Dan Simmons wrote a Sci-Fi book called 'Hyperion', and two others as sequels to it. Great reading. Hyperion is one of the most compelling sci-fi books I have ever read. Kind of along the scale of Dune.

ooooo...I know you wouldn't even bring that up if it wasn't good. To compare it to Dune. Ridley Scott makes good films so this will be excellent. I loves me a nice arctic adventure.

It certainly has a stellar cast and director so I'm going to watch the first couple of episodes to see how it goes. But I don't like this bullshit occult monster crap they feel compelled to have added in to the story -- the historical facts of the Franklin Expedition are horrible enough without that element really even being necessary.

Cal, not comparing it to Dune in any way. Dune is way more of a literary masterpiece, compared to this tale. I also agree with Debra. Didn't need the Windigoish stuff. The truth was horrendous enough, as you said. Arctic expedition stories always intrigued me. I am so much a pussy when it comes to cold, being raised in the desert. Can you imagine taking off your boot and having the soles of your feet come off, frozen to the inside of the shoe. Egads!

When I saw that guy's hand pull away from the deck and it is missing half it's skin in the clip I cringed. Frostbite is a real thing. Good things we are raised on the worst of the cold weather stories so we know to dress for the weather. Jack London, Hans Christian Anderson those guys wrote some terrible stories about dying alone in the cold. Personally I prefer the cold over the oppresive heat anyday.
