I think I have a crush on this spunky little robot girl. The visuals look amazing and I loves me anything that Kristof Waltz is in. Then when I was searching for images I found this really early cosplay of Alita that Riddle did years ago. I never knew who she was portraying but now I am all over this whole Battle Angel story.
I also found it was REALLY weird that CATHOLIC.ORG does posts about Japanese Anime and included a picture of Riki as the character Alita on their page. Who knew they were that hip over at Catholic.org. Okay it freaked me out a little.

I really dug the anime movie and manga book, so hopefully they do this one right.
I am watching the anime movie today. I am so glad that despite James Cameron having his name on this it's a Robert Rodriquez movie and he makes great movies and series like MATADOR which is fantastic.
at first I thought her face was a little "uncanny valley" but now I realize this was deliberate, that they were going for "anime eyes" as a homage to the manga...
Very smart but also a total CGI girl would look 'off' to the human brain and disturb us but this change solves that problem in a elegant way that understands how the human brain deals with digital 'reality'.
