On the satellite I have been catching two hours of one of my favorite TV shows as a kid, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. It was the kind of high adventure under the sea that was just my speed. I remember watching it at six every night with my Dad when it was in syndication in the late 70s. I discovered it this week during the worst of my computer frustrations. It was nice to see the Flying Sub which was the coolest vehicle ever. It could fly AND go under the sea. The Cave of Cool could use a Flying Sub. Did I tell you it could fly? Sure it got goofy as they ran out of ideas about what to do under the sea but that was all part of it's charm. But a lot of really weird creatures happened to get onto a top secret submarine with astounding regularity.
Gold Key had the best covers but the stories inside were always a let down.
Speaking of goofy creatures.

That sub could do it all, man.
None of our local stations ever showed the TV series when I was growing up, but I did see the movie a few times. I remember one Sunday curled up on Mom's lap watching "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" paired with "War of the Worlds" -- hmmm, that's some good memories.
it's weird... i never really watched "VttBotS" but always loved the Flying Sub!
It was like Star Trek under the ocean and all the corridors were the same and boy someone could hide on that sub even if they were alien monsters. The flying sub was the coolest. I had a picture of it on my wall as a kid. Love those colors.
