This scene is great because you see that Ben knows EXACTLY what to say to Doom to mess with his head the most. For all this powers, Doom really is still a bitter guy with a scar on his face who can't stand anyone seeing him so damaged. He sees his failure every time he looks in the mirror. It's his Achilles Heel.
