This Is How We Do It In The The Tundra, Bitches

Tragedy was averted early this morning thanks to a quick-thinking soldier who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

It happened the very early morning hours, Thursday, when a local soldier was on his way to the airport enroute to Afghanistan. According to Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz with West Shore RCMP this soldier is a true hero.

"The soldier was driving down Bear Mountain Parkway when he observed a fire on the balcony of a home. He stopped to alert residents, and then was successful in extinguishing the fire before it got out of control. He called the fire department and left the scene on his way to the airport, enroute to Afghanistan."

The soldier is a Master Corporal with the Military Police stationed at CFB Esquimalt.

The fire was accidental and there were no injuries.

All in a morning's work, eh?

The thing is if he hadn't been on his way to Afghanistan he probably would have stuck around to help clean up and rebuild the deck.

That's the way we do it in Canada.

Business as usual in the boreal regions of the Cave of Cool, I guess.
