The Three Musketeers
If there is one thing I love it's a big 'ol heap of Hollywood Blockbuster that is too much of EVERYTHING. I want actors to eat the scenery and go boom and stab at each other and just generally act in really snooty and selfish ways in 17th Century Paris...and do all of this while looking fabulous. I want RUFFLES and CREVATS with my swordplay. I will brook nothing less.
This one seems to fill many of my requirements for dealing with the high concept (which we can agree THE THREE MUSKETEERS is - few stories have been made into movies as many times as this classic) and that of course is the FULL RETARD execution.
I found these posters over at Dez's 'Hollywood Spy' and they are spectacular and in your face like you want. I wouldn't mind standing in line to get into the theatre if I had these posters to study as I waited for the line to move.
And it's nice to see that Mila will not be wasting all she has learned in two decades as one of the screen's all time great action actresses, if not number one, when she displays her swordsmanship. He husband, director Anderson really has a lot of faith in her abilities as both a dramatic but especially a physical actress. To do both so well for so long is a testament to her dedication to her craft.
I appreciate her much in the same way that I have come to re-appreciate Jason Staitham. He just NEVER lets me down. The movies he is in are often of a genre but he is never the weakest element - far from it. That makes him fun for me to watch. Mila has had that same effect on me since THE MESSENGER way back in the 90s when she played a very young Joan of Arc.
I would love to include the trailer for this but Adobe is shutting me out and won't let me upgrade and generally have chosen to work against my betterment. Their room in hell is currently being upgraded.
