Not since "Edward Scissorhands" have I seen a mainstream movie with so many pastel colors. "Drive" came close with its pink font, but thats about it.
Seriously, those shorts look like they were dyed with the same stuff kids use to color their Easter eggs.

Selena's expression makes it look like she just stepped out of a Gil Elvgren painting.

Miami Vice used a very pastel pallet. I think that same use of color will be used to cover up some dark and terrible things.

And since you made me look it up, she DOES look like she was painted by Gil. The girls is a star I tells ya.

Oh didn't MAKE you look up anything. At least no more than you made me look up "Miami Vice". I had forgotten about that one. I always assumed that those kind of colors were a product of the 1980s in general, but I'm thinking now that they might have been a more deliberate choice.

The two hour pilot for Miami Vice was awesome. Phil Collins, In The Air Tonight was playing while Crockett and Tubbs went to kill the druglord that had killed their friends. But before they can do that, Sonny (Don Johnson) has to call his ex-wife to ask her if anything in their relationship was ever real. Poor betrayed damaged Sonny Crockett.
