Shohreh Aghdashloo is an Iranian-American actress. Following numerous starring roles on the stage, her first major film role was in The Report directed by Abbas Kiarostami, which won the Critics Award at the Moscow Film Festival. Her next film was Shatranje Bad, directed by Mohammad Reza Aslani, which screened at several film festivals. Both films were banned in her home country; but, in 1978, Aghdashloo won acclaim for her performance in Sooteh Delan, directed by Ali Hatami, which established her as one of Iran's leading actresses.
I was overjoyed to see her cast in The Expanse. Her role as Chrisjen Avasarala is so damn kick ass as you can see in all these clips. If I have to give you ONE reason to watch The Expanse it would be to watch her play all sides against the others to ensure the safety of Earth.

She looks kickass indeed!
Trust me. In season two we meet a younger female Martian marine who get isolated from her people and becomes Avasarela's bodygaurd, ally. Very cool. The Expanse has great female characters.
It's a good show. Sometimes I have to remind myself who is who, but that's ok. Keeping the factions straight etc.
