Happy birthday Cal! Keep up the great posts. Incidentally, if I had a small token of my esteem for you, what's the best way to ship it from Oklahoma to you?
Happy Birthday ole bean. Some mighty fine looking folks there. I still think your Dad looks likes kind of like Clive Owen in that shot on the blue couch with you. Or Clive looks like your Dad.
Happy Birthday, Cal! There are some great photos there I don't think I've ever seen on your blog before -- like the cub scout salute one and the football uniform one.
So here are my reasons for following your blog for the past however-many-I-don't-remember years:
1. You find the coolest images on the 'net and present them here for our enjoyment. I always know I will see something here that I wouldn't see on any other blog. And I have stolen many an image to use on my own blog -- thanks!
2. You have a good sense of humour and I like your writing style. Matched with your crazy imagination, you have written some real gems over the years!
3. You have a good Canadian social-cultural-political analysis and are not easily taken in by all the bullshit so rampant in the world today. Of course, my views match yours so I agree with most of the things you write, which is a bonus.
4. I have learned so much about comics and superheroes from you, I can't even begin to enumerate. Now I'm a hopeless Marvel MCU addict and really, it's all your fault.
5. Anyone who loves cats is a good person in my books. And you have had some lovely cats in your life and on your blog. I like how you give them independent personalities, lives and adventures on your blog, just as I do with HRH.
6. You are a good Ukrainian boy from southwestern Manitoba. That makes you an automatic member of my tribe.
I hope you keep on producing this fab blog for a long time, Cal, even though I know the lack of feedback can be frustrating and annoying at times. For every one person who leaves a comment, there's probably a hundred who have looked at and enjoyed your post who don't comment. That's just the way of the world, this busy, busy world.
I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.
I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.
I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.
And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.
So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.
Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.
This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.

Congrats, man!
Wishing you all the happiness you can handle.
Only 9 years before I reach this significant milestone myself...
Always know that your fine blog is a panacea for many in these troubled times (and very much appreciated).
Excelsior!

Happy Birthday, Cal! I know at our age celebrating birthdays is really just a way of saying "well, I ain't dead yet!" but try to enjoy it anyway!
Happy Birthday Cal! Enjoy the day!

My birthday is in July, gonna be 68. Never thought I would make it this far, considering my crazy 60s-70s debauchery. Enjoy every moment Cal.
I always thought my Dad looked like James Garner, Doctor G.
