Dave Bautista is the latest actor to join director Denis Villeneuve's upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet claims Bautista will be playing "Beast" Rabban, "the sadistic nephew of a baron who oversees Arrakis."
The duo previously collaborated on Blade Runner 2049.
Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, also known as the Beast, Mudir Nahya (Demon Ruler), and King Cobra by the Fremen, was the older nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and the Count of Lankiveil.
He inherited the Harkonnen penchant for sadism and cruelty, but not the cunning. He was best known for his tyrannical and vastly ineffective governance of Arrakis during the Harkonnen fiefdom of Arrakis, as well as during the insurgency of the Fremen led by Paul Muad'Dib. He earned the nickname "Beast" when he killed his father, Abulurd Harkonnen. The Baron planned to let Glossu rule the planet for a time through fear and terror so that when his favored brother, Feyd-Rautha, took over, the new ruler would be welcomed as a hero.
Rabban was slain by the Fremen populace of Arrakeen, whom he had brutalized for many years.

this news pleases me!
Yup. He and the director worked together on Blade Runner 2049 and Bautista is a good actor. He can play this guy as especially evil and really make us hate Rabban like we should.
I just hope the Gurney, Duncan and Feyd picks are awesome... I don't really care about Paul.
Gerhard Butler would be a great Stilgar imho...
I agree with Butler. I so wish they could get Patrick Stewart back as Gurney. Duncan needs a bigger part too. I am fascinated by this movie now.
Why waste him as Rabban? I'd rather see him play Stilgar.
Yeh, that would be a good part too. Maybe he is too large a guy to be a Fremen.
