Oh Sarah Sarah - you are the gift that keeps on giving to a cynical progressive like myself. I would never confuse you with someone smart but I have to admire the cold blooded nature of your ambition. I read the Vanity Fair article about her and found it to be a very revealing portrait of the now former governor of Alaska. As the author builds his premise that she is a shallow opportunist with neither the intelligence or people skills to do the top job as President, he notes that this is clearly what she is aiming her star towards. By resigning she can focus entirely on the campaign for 2012 without the burdens of running a state as large and complex as Alaska. She claimed today that she did what she did because it was best for the people of Alaska. Not because she was a bad governor but because 'they' deserved not to have their government hijacked or crippled by the hate that her enemies have for her - hate that she earned honestly. What a special martyr she is to sacrifice herself for others. Now she is free to feel the love from those god and gun Republicans who she appeals to in the lower 48. This media whore can pick the fights that allow her to keep her face and voice in the news regardless of if she is right or has all the facts to support her arguments. She would love to be the face of the GOP and I hope for our side that she becomes just that. The more she talks and the more we learn about her the more she will be seen as a paper tiger, and a lightweight whose looney fringe beliefs are on the wrong side of history. Barack won't even need to campaign and he will still win re-election if she is the republican choice. Even her speech today announcing her resignation was amateurish at best. I don't think even she believed the crap she was spewing about her love of America and how she was the one to fight 'politics as usual' and all the other bogeymen she can pull out of her tired magician's top hat. I especially love the home spun analogies she makes about how she is a hunter, a fisherman, a logger, a moose rider and a yellow snow eater. Okay, I could rant more but for some reason today I have a ton to say with these HUGE paragraphs.
