I Am Ashamed Of Myself

For the past couple of months I have allowed the Republicans to get inside my head about Obama and the things he is (supposedly) failing at. I admit that I was pretty down on this guy for not living up to my impossible expectations. However, in the past couple of days I have had to come down on one side or the other. Let me explain.

I listen to the 'Stephanie Miller Show' everyday on podcast (no commercials). The show is funny but she asks smart questions to people in power. Yes, they are on the progressive side of the aisle but those voices are so rarely heard on talk radio that is dominated by conservatives shills. The people like Beck and Hannity and Limbaugh are relentless in their refusal to grant Obama ANY congratulations for ANYTHING he does. They even refuse to admit that young George W left Obama with a shitload of problems.

That is okay though. My man, Barack has never complained or whined about things being hard. He gets up everyday, rolls up his sleeves and TRIED to make things better. He is the real deal. He is not wishing for the country to fail.

Stephanie has two co-host that she calls 'The Mooks' - Jim and Chris. Lately they have been the 'nabobs of negativism' while Stephanie has been overflowing in her praise of the way the President got BP to cave on almost every concession and pony up the 20 billion for the escrow account that will be used to pay claims and finance clean-up of the gulf. It will not be the last payment either I assume.

She is TOTALLY RIGHT. It's spectacular success. He faced up to a powerful corporation determined to nickle and dime everyone and he won. He even got his perp walk with the President of BP getting scolded in Congress. What he does in public and what he did in the back rooms are two totally different Obamas. I am convinced of that. The whole chess/checkers metaphor.

I can just hear the tide turning. I can feel fear in the Republicans. Their days of just being critics and not offering real intelligent solutions (and most importantly GETTING AWAY WITH IT) is over. President Obama just delivered a old school backhand bitchslap to those who would like to see him fail. He herded them into one corral and let the bull impregnate them with common sense.

I see that now and I am feeling more positive that an ADULT is in charge of things than I have in a long time and Stephanie Miller getting my admiration for doing that. Good on ya girl. That is why I love you.

Cal, I agree wholeheartely.... Barack is doing a good job, as good as can be done. I have a question for all you people who think Brother Barack aint' doin enough... what should he be doing differently???People are quick to talk shit and bash Barack, but tell me what else he could do short of strapping on scuba gear and actually plugging the hole in the pipe. I'm not saying you can't complain about somebody... but if you are complaining about somebodies performance in a situation, you should include some alternate suggestions for what you think they should be doing instead. Keep the faith my Canadian Brother...

I also agree 100%. I'm still very pessimistic about the whole thing because their are still enough ignorant, arrogant anti-intellectual morons in this country to hold back any progressive thinking. I would love to think otherwise but the religious right is capable of anything, especially with so much blind support. But I will revel in your optimism and hope with you.

both parties are the sam in so much as they are for big Gov and no real solutions. Solving problems for good would reduce the need for Gov and both parties want us dependent upon their respective party. Viva la revolution!

Obama isn't ruling alone. He must deal with a difficult congress.
What's important is that his administration is trying to do things better.

That's my whole point. It's the EFFORT that he total deserves credit for. The last prez didn't try at all even under pressure. I never got the idea that Bush took the job seriously like I know Obama does.
