Why Does Their Most Technically Advanced Inventions Still Look Like Junk?
"Above is Lunokhod 1, a Soviet robotic rover that landed on the moon in 1970 and eventually died, leaving its final resting place unknown. That is, until a few months ago when UC San Diego astrophysicist Tom Murphy fired off laser pulses at the moon and detected the photons reflected back in the ultrasensitive telescope at the Apache Point Observatory. It turns out that Murphy had found Lunokhod 1."

It looks like a primitive Wall-E.
Yes, it was a primitive Wall-E. It looks like junk because it costs like junk (The USSR spent about one tenth od Nasa's budget to accomplish the same objectives).
1970 huh? Wonder what they're shooting up now?
It totally looks like a toy, and not a good one...
That's the thing I love about the Soviet space was program is that it sure don't look pretty but it does work and then some.
They just didn't care about making everything look pretty or really safe.
I'd even believe it was coal powered.
well, i think it looks very cool :)
