This reminds me of the old 'Twilight Zone' episode, the 'Simpsons' episode and the graphic novel 'Super Boxers' where an ordinary guy has to take the place of the robot when he is forced into an important fight. I am glad they kept that out of the trailer but anyone familiar with any robot boxer tale knows this is exactly where this story is going to be going.

The film is based on the Twilight Zone episode "Steel" starring Lee Marvin. It was written by Richard Matheson based on his own short story. So anyone who's seen that has a leg-up on this film.
In the short story, if I recall correctly, the robot boxers were androids, not Rock-Em-Sock-Ems, which made the switcheroo plausible.
Also.
So nice to see a robot movie where the robots look like robots, not piles of knives.
That is one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes and love Lee Marvin in everything.
