My Open Message To FOX NEWS.

I know you will hate this man for everything he does no matter what that is but, seriously, FLIP FLOPS? FLIP FLOPS!? are tripping you out now?

You no longer have any right to deny to my face that you aren't a racist, homophobic, propaganda arm of the Republican Party. How you ever said with a straight face that you were real journalists before this 'flipflopgate' was always beyond my understanding but this time you really HAVE jumped the shark.

I hope my conservative friends in America will agree with me that this time Fox has taken the train to Stupid Town and stayed the night.

Well I am pretty jealous as flip flops are right out this time of year for me. Not that I would wear flip flops other than at the beach or pool.

The mom jeans were way worse though.

I hate the flip flop but let the man wear what he wants to. He was on vacation. Fox News is so stupid.

I don't think it's so much the flops, but that they don't fit exactly right. You should have at *least* a quarter inch support in front and back, but his heels are poppin' off the back. No good at all.

But yes, Fox News is retarded.

I second Budd: I'd never wear flip flops other than than at the beach or pool. However, I forgive him because americans have a poor dress code.

Ricky, you know WAY too much about flip flops than any man should. I am a sandal (without socks) man myself.

Let me ask, what if he had worn them with socks? How would you have felt about the issue then?

FOX News is the place to go when you want to stop being a real reporter and let someone else write your stories for you and all you have to do is read the crap and cash your fat paycheck.

Socks with sandals or flip flops is an abomination unto the lord as we all know.

You forgot one other step Drake - dying your hair blond to complete your Stepford Wife-like transformation.

I know! I couldn't believe they were trying to make such a big deal out of NOTHING, yet again.

Did you notice the semi-casual dressed Secret Service guy standing in the background? His Aloha shirt almost makes it impossible to see the friggin Uzi he's sporting...

BY THE WAY....
Love the new pop-up for comments! It's so much easier! Thanks...

I had to do a little searching to find the story, but I'm assuming you're writing about the Fox and Friends segment? I don't watch the show, or Fox News in general, very much so let me know if I've got the wrong reference.

Couple of Points:

I couldn't possibly care less what President Obama chooses to wear. Its a little more casual than I would prefer in my President, but I'm fully prepared not to care and I certainly wouldn't give the story the gravitas of placement on a news program.

I didn't hear anything remotely homophobic or racist in the Fox and Friends stupid rant about his shoe choices when I watched it on line a few minutes ago. Yes it was a stupid story. Yes it was about a Black Man. No that doesn't mean its automatically racist.

News outlets routinely point out anything regarding the President of the United States that is .... unusual. Does anyone remember the plastering of pictures of George Bush wearing Crocs with black socks when he was President? They looked even stupider than than President Obama's flip flops.

Why do I know about George Bush wearing Crocs?...

Because it was on the news. Had nothing to do with racism or homophobia. In a way, it would be more racist if the "news" media intentionally ignored the fashion story - since they wouldn't with any other President. Just like the Bush Crocs story, 99% of people who see/read it will completely forget about it in less than a week.

I assume all news sources are slanted. I fully realize that Fox News has a Conservative slant to their reporting. In my opinion CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS have a Liberal Slant. And don't forget PBS/NPR. That has a decidedly liberal slant that I have to support with my tax dollars even if I don't watch it.

I think what really jumps out at me though, when looking at the photo of President Obama, is how much of a toll the Office puts on whoever is in the hot seat. Just look at before/after pictures of any President when he enters the position and when he leaves. It is one tough job.

Thank you for suggesting it Pat. It's way easier for me also. I think it has made my comments stronger just to have the imput I am commenting on right beside me.

Paladin - Gretchen Carlson is a menance. A stupid menace.

By homophobic and racist I refer to the entirety of the Fox News presentation. Anything they can do to keep those two groups DOWN they will do so.

I love ya buddy but save your ammunition for a hill you want to die on. Supporting your side blindly on this story is beneath you. I expect better.

I agree with you that that job is a killer which is why we all need to have more respect for the person that takes it on - regardless of his chosen footwear.

I love you too, Man :)

Did you watch the segment we are discussing?

I watched the clip again to make sure I didn't miss anything. Still saw nothing racist in it. I don't get where potential homophobia even enters into it, unless the idea is that only Gay people wear flip flops.

You singled out Gretchen Carlson as a menace, but she was the only bobble-head of the three to state (repeatedly) that she doesn't care at all about the President's fashion sense and that all that matters is how he governs the country. Exactly the same view you and I appear to have.

I understand if you see the positions taken as a whole by Fox News as indicative of Racism or Homophobia on their part, however if you fail to provide specific evidence to support the claim I can't do much with that.

If we paint any opposing viewpoint to look like racism without specific expamples, then it provides excellent camouflage for actual racism to persist. The default retort from the left has continuously been "You're Racist!" whenever opposing, principled views from conservatives are expressed. That's a myopic, unimaginative, unconstructive tactic and I expect better from my opponents in a debate too :)

We *should* have more respect for the Office of the Presidency, which is why I'm making a conscious effort to stop just referring to the President as "Obama". I would point out, however, that lack of courtesy and respect for the office isn't a recent racist driven phenomenon. I couldn't begin to count the number of editorial cartoons depicting President Bush as a monkey, or Hitler, or any number of degrading visual parodies during his terms as President.

You'll find some number of those featuring President Obama too, of course, but you're far less likely to find them published in the pages of major newspapers and magazines like you did with President Bush.
