"Filmed against a canvas of awesome magnificence."
Now that is just good writing.
This exchange between Peter O'Toole and Anthony Quinn is brilliant. I couldn't find the complete scene in one video so enjoy it in two parts. Watching the way Lawrence uses Auda's own words to convince him to take over Akkaba is thrilling. They just don't make movies like this anymore.

I had the chance to watch it once in the big screen. It´s music track is designed to start playing before the lights go out, to introduce the audience to the mood of the film. Amazing experience. AFAIK, Ben Hur had also a sound track for the intermission and an operture, but that one I´ve only seen on TV.
I was lucky to live near a great theatre when I was in University. They only showed old movies like this one on the big screen. I saw all the great classics like The Ten Commandments there. I love the idea of an intermission that played the music when they brought up the lights.
I just watched the Blu-ray last night. Remastered from the negative. Like seeing it on the big screen!
We must be doing that same brain thing again.
Lawrence of Arabia is one of my all-time favourite movies too. A true epic.
