Angela And Why Should I Care

So, as some of you should already know, Angela’s ownership legal dispute is finally ended, Neil Gaiman own her, and she’ll be officially a character in MU involved in AGE OF ULTON  final. Here it is her new design and the original one.

If you are interested in the story of how this SPAWN character became owned by Marvel Comics, the company Todd McFarlane famously left with the other hot Marvel artists of the 90s, you can go HERE. Frankly I like to see what Gaiman will do with her. Her first appearance is attached to the Age of Ultron story and she looks to be the Deus Ex Machina that the story would need to finish up properly and, yes, logically.

People sometimes forget just how much of an influence Todd McFarlane has had on modern geekdom. Aside from his role in promoting independent comics as one of the founders of Image, McFarlane also revolutionized the action figure market in the mid-1990s by emphasizing sculpt over play features or articulation. It's arguable that without McFarlane Toys, the modern adult action figure collectors' market might not exist. NECA, DC Direct, Mezco, Resaurus, Palisades - -they all followed in McFarlane's footsteps.

There were a number of figures with variants and factory errors among the early Spawn lines, but none were more famous than Angela. Angela's character was a -- wait for it -- angel who was tasked with hunting down Hellspawn. But when her action figure was produced in '95, the factory didn't paint the panties on a certain amount of the production run (whether by accident, or because she was designed that way and McFarlane later asked the factory to add the panties, is unclear). Dubbed "Party" Angela by collectors, she was a much-prized item in many a Spawn collection during those early years. Side note: the same thing happened again years later with a Stephanie McMahon WWE figure.

Oh, yeah... they "forgot" to paint panties on her. A likely story!

I've met Todd. He's a good dude. Very laid back.

I have many of his awesomely designed action figures. He did some great movie sets and characters from literature.

Im sad they Dinseyfied her ... its not something I can say is wonderful image wise ... Will be interesting to see what happens now that shes on the marvel side ...I will just have to put a mental note to Insert old Image of her before she got " de clawed into what almost looks like Storm only not brown " a quote from a friend , I would have to say tho the old "Image version" of her was better in my eyes ... Probably cus I still have the first edition originals of her ... and yeah ... its a personal choice to each his own but a Demon slayer should look bad-ass ... not like some cheap Valkyrie costume ... just my opinion.
