I can't imagine its because of having too many characters, they could easily adapt as necessary. I don't know that the "Dark Knight Returns" two part feature did that well in sales so many that detoured them from wanting to explore a film about an older Superman.

DC's next few animated features appear to tie in to New 52 storylines so I'm guessing it'll be a long time until we see this one in full motion glory.; August 23, 2013 at 10:28 AM
