I even like the idea of a Howling Commandos series featuring these great Marvel Monsters. I have mixed feelings about many episodes of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. I am not such a big fan of all the breaking of the 'fourth wall' that Spidey does. I think it takes me out of the adventure but I do like seeing characters that are rarely seen in Marvel animation. The concept of Spidey has been done better in previous cartoon incarnations but I watch and will certainly be catching this special Halloween episode.
Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man makes its Disney Channel debut in a special one-hour Halloween event, Saturday, October 5 at 9pm/8c. This brand new prime time animation special features a never-before-seen team-up with Blade, the fan favorite vampire hunter; Jack Russell aka Werewolf by Night; The Living Mummy; Frankenstein’s Monster and Man-Thing. United together in animation for the first time, Spider-Man and his monstrous allies take on one of the biggest Halloween villains of all time, Dracula!
This landmark Marvel event also features a star-studded voice cast, including Disney Channel star Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally, Teen Beach Movie) as Jack Russell; Terry Crews (The Expendables) as Blade; and Oded Fehr (The Mummy) as The Living Mummy.
“This is the biggest event in Ultimate Spider-Man history,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “We’ve brought Spidey together with our greatest Supernatural heroes and some of the hottest names to voice them. We’re hoping families turn down the lights and turn up the volume for our spookiest special yet, courtesy of Ultimate Spider-Man!”
The episode will re-air the following week within the weekly Marvel Universe block on Disney XD, on Sunday, October 13 at 11am/10c.

I remember Howling Commandos was a series around the time I started college, but I don't know that it really took off. Which is a pity because I dig the idea too. I'll have to see if they printed a trade paperback.
I do love that Disney Channel released a feature called "Teen Beach Movie", not as on the nose as "High School Musical" or "Snakes on a Plane", but pretty close.
I've seen a handful of episodes of Ultimate Spider-Man and I'm not really a fan. My biggest problem with Season 1 was that Peter Parker was a bit too much of a punk. Season 2 has since just become "Spider-Man Team Up". This week Spidey teams up with Thor, this week Spidey teams up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, next week the rest of the Avengers. Basically Spider-Man keeps running into hot properties that Marvel wants to sell to a wide audience to prep for appearances in the Marvel movies. It would seem that Marvel has learned much since joining forces with Disney, and I can't help but feel cynical when I feel like I'm watching half hour advertisements for upcoming Marvel projects.
I would love to see a regular cartoon series of the Howling Commandos, but it'll probably never happen... D'OH!!
