German Word Of The Day - Weltschmerz

Definition of WELTSCHMERZ

1:  mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state

2:  a mood of sentimental sadness

Not quite as good as ENNUI but I like that the Germans have a word for this kind of soul crushing sadness - as they should.

You can never have too many words for being really miserable.

Like Eskimos have fifty words for snow, I want fifty words for my existential angst.

WELTSCHMERZ is my default setting. And yes, I am of German descent.
