Joe Speaks Truth To The Youth

I got smacked down by one of my favorite Millennials today because I liked the comedy sketch Lewis Black did on last night's Daily Show about them. At the end he called them all the things that old people always say about the younger generation. Until he realized that if all it took to be a Millennial was to be self centered and indignant then he was one too. It was a nice bit. I laughed out loud. My Millennial friend (who is enormously talented and accomplished) took offence. She hates that these kids get a bad rap. It's a touchy subject with her as it should be because she is really the opposite of a selfish slacker.

At first I was hurt but then five minutes later I saw this posted on my feed and it all made sense to me. I have become the Joe Friday character in many of my attitudes and I think I am actually better for it. Like him I am very sure about the rightness of my beliefs. I do see the younger generation as a bit coddled because that is how the generation before me saw ME. I bet the children of the Millennials will get the same judgment from their immediate elders as well. Now that group we should call the BUBBLE CHILDREN because that is how they will be raised.

On another note, how GREAT is the delivery by that Jack Webb? He was one of a kind.

And how pretentious is the word MILLENNIAL??? Two L's and Two N's?
