Wonder Woman has been dropped from her role as an honorary ambassador for the UN working on behalf of women and girls.
The decision to drop the scantily clad, curvaceous comic book superhero within two months of her appointment came after nearly 45,000 people signed an online petition in protest at her appointment.
The petition asked UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon to reconsider her selection as a way to help the fight for equality for women and girls worldwide during 2017.
The petition said: "Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent 'warrior' woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character's current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions."
A UN spokesman, who explained campaigns using fictional characters often went on for a few months only, said the character's role at the 193-member state organization will now end on Friday.;
Her tenure looked uncertain even on the day of her appointment in October when dozens of UN employees protested against it at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Gal Gadot-Varsano is an Israeli actress and model. In 2016, Gadot began playing the role of Wonder Woman
The Arab league isn't too thrilled about an IDF vet playing her in the new movie either.
What if the Arab Superhero Bee Keeper Girl offends me. Doesn't she got to go.
You know that I love WW as much as the next person. But I have to agree with the dissenters on this issue, for 2 main reasons:
(1) The most oppressed girls in the world live in cultures where the image of WW would not be displayed anyway because it is culturally inappropriate either because of her outfit or her obvious ties to American culture. There's no point having a symbol that can't reach the population who needs to see it the most.
(2) The whole thing reeks of being a publicity stunt and a commercial tie-in to the upcoming WW movie. It's inappropriate to co-opt United Nations efforts for that purpose.
Just for the record, I'm equally annoyed at using Disney characters for these honorary positions too.
Can someone find that stone Wonder Woman wrote on and post it somewhere in the oval office for the new Dictator -- I mean President -- to see every day? He should be able to pay attention long enough to read it since it's less than 140 characters.
That does makes sense Debra. Stupid religious freaks.
