A Hundred Beavers, Gladiator and Red One Rewiewed.

My friend Beth posted the trailer for this film on her Facebook page and as you can see this movie promises to be a goofy romp that looks to be something I would never have found on my own. It's a fantastic original piece of work that was made for about 150,000 dollars using modern tech and imagination that really pushes the limit. This film was made by someone who has a vision that takes inspiration from the earliest silent pictures and cartoons like classic Looney Tunes. it's great watching the Trapper use all kinds of wacky ingenuity to go from zero to HERO. I laughed my ass off throughout. Totally worth your time and effort.

Gladiator 2 took it's inspiration from ancient Rome and it's famous Colosseum but this time focusses on the spectacle that awaited the audience and centered on the adventure of one lone gladiator seeking his legit vengeance against Rome. Add to that some fantastic back stage machinations by Denzel Washington who schemes to become Emperor himself and you've got an exiting film. The production values are terrific as are the fight scene that connect nicely to the first Russel Crow Gladiator film by making the memory of Maximus to achieve it's heroes ends. Another one worth your time this holiday season.

Red One takes it's title from the code name for Santa Clause and imagines a whole organization that works to support and protect the big guy. Then one night before Christmas the big guy is kidnapped causing Dwayne Johnson and his team to go on a rescue mission. Chris Evans (who even as a kid didn't believe), the world's greatest tracker is recruited to aid in the mission. He's our eyes and ears to the vast operation that keeps Santa in action. This one only received a rank of 33 percent from Rotten Tomatoes critics but 89 from viewers so I go into this one with some trepidation. The trailer didn't look that bad.

The movie is not as bad as the critics would have you believe. In fact it's an okay little Christmas tale with Dwayne Johnson playing his usual tough guy role. The arrival of my buddy Krampus is fun and I liked the holiday theme. Check this one out on streaming when it goes to Netflix, you will not be bored.

I'll watch "Red One" when it streams, only because Chris Evans is in it. I finally saw "Deadpool & Wolverine" and LOVED IT, especially that post-credits scene, hahahaha!
