This Happened Two Minutes From My House

I only have to walk about ten houses from my own to see the back of this school. No one was hurt which is good but I had to laugh at the pictures and how seriously the driver took out the classroom. All I could think about was that the teacher was lucky she wasn't working late or that the car didn't hit her desk. Wrecking the kids stuff is okay. Just don't run over my planning book.

"A wild car accident Thursday afternoon left an SUV parked in the middle of a Maryview School classroom amid a pile of rubble and scattered papers.

RCMP said the driver was heading west on a service road next to 39th Street when he had an undisclosed medical emergency. His vehicle swerved across 39th Street and slammed into the west side of the school about 5:20 p.m.

The SUV smashed through a wall and came to rest in the middle of the classroom, which fortunately was empty at the time. Photos of the scene show desks and school work thrown about amid chunks of concrete blocks and other debris.

The 52-year-old driver and a 35-year-old female passenger were not injured in the crash. No charges are being laid."

Thank goodness no one was hurt. That's insane.

Wow. Good thing, as the others have said, that it was an empty room at the time!

Maybe a Snickers incident, like Cal's?

Something similar happened where I work. A car crashed through the publisher's office window. No one was hurt but he was having a meeting at the time and my wife would have been in that meeting right in the path of the car if she had not become pissed off with the office manager and quit two days previously.

True story.
