Dune Intro

These are two opening prologues for the movie 'Dune'. The first is from the 1984 David Lynch film with Virginia Madsen (as Princess Irulan) doing the narration. I never liked how she would just fade and reappear while giving the viewer information about where the story is set and some background information that is necessary for you to know before beginning the tale. It is very distracting.

The second opening was created when 'Dune' was shown on TV. Because of numerous criticisms that the film was too confusing for audiences, someone (who must have really cared to capture the audience the film deserved) created another introduction that this time used a male voice. This intro is 3 times as long as the one for the theatrical release. It sets the background using some gorgeous artwork of the main events, places, and characters and takes you back 1000s of years before the events portrayed in the film.

The second clip is Irulan's narration synched with a computer model and no doubt came from a Dune video game that I am unfamiliar with. I was unable to add the Virgina Madsen narration due to 'You Tube's' stupid denial of my request to embed but you can hear her words in her voice below.

The 2010 Dune intro was done by Canadian 3d artist Pascal Blanche. It was a personal piece by the artist who is a huge fan of Dune.
