Stay Classy Canada

WINNIPEG - The doctor of the man who beheaded an innocent passenger aboard a Greyhound Bus less than two years ago is recommending day passes for his client, Vince Li.

The treating psychiatrist believes the man found not criminally responsible for slaying Tim McLean in front of a busload of horrified bystanders is ready to leave his secure mental health facility for hours at a time, provided he is accompanied by two "special constables."

"His demeanor on the ward, he doesn't argue with staff... he is responsive to their requests."

Yeh, sure he's responsive to requests. That's not the issue. The fact that he cut a guys head off then carried it around the bus for a couple of hours is the issue. And if you needed ANOTHER reason why this nut should never be out of a high security mental hospital, he also snacked on a few pieces of the guy while the police waited him out.

To this day I know people who won't even ride a CITY bus because they are afraid of the same thing happening to them. My Dad would always say that you can never tell when someone is going to go 'off'. Just try to get away from them quickly if they do.

I don't care how 'special' your constables are - no one who did what 'Lopper Li' did should ever get to breath free air. Why does he need to be out of the hospital for a few hours a week anyways? If you wave a severed head around on public transportation you don't not get to pass go and you don't get to see a movie at the discount theatre twice a month.

I hope that doesn't disappoint Mr Li too much. We know he has a problem with impulse control.

I agree with you. He should never be free.

I've had bad experiences in buses before. I was on the bus with some friends on our way to the downtown mall and two drunk people were arguing loudly in the back on a bus. A pregnant woman tried to intervene and play peacemaker, but when she raised her voice to the other screaming banshee, the bus driver pulled over and told HER to get out!

That should have been the cue for us all to get off and catch the next bus instead but no, like the stupid white people that we were, we all huddled in our seats hoping that it would go away if we ignored it. Well, whatya know push came to shove and one guy broke a beer bottle against the other guy's head. That seemed to get the drivers attention to pull over again, allowing the two drunkards to run away.

I got sprayed with beer and broken glass and shook like a leaf for the rest of the day, not even able to eat and didn't get on the bus again for close to a year.

Holy crap. That is terrifying. At least heads stayed attached to their bodies.
