The View From My Childhood

Moscow got a snowstorm that left a ten-inch-thick blanket of snow. They have 12,000 snow removal trucks, but they couldn't keep up with the tons of snow in the big city. Meanwhile, Norilsk, the northernmost city in the world (of at least 100,000 people), is digging out from under ten feet of snow!

I seem to remember epic snowfalls like this from my youth but maybe it just looked like a lot of snow because I was a smaller person. We would dig all kinds of tunnels and rooms. We kept them from falling by using a squirt bottle to ice down the walls and ceilings. We should have charged admission for kids to play in our magical Snow Hotel.
