Don't Get Excited

It's only a comic but there should be a sequel to the great Dredd 3D. That filmed died at the box office because all of you geeks that complain there are no good comic themed projects out there totally rejected this one to my eternal disappointment. I though it perfectly captured the character of Dredd and put him into an exciting adventure that was as much video game as action film. The effects are spectacular as is the story. Karl Urban was lean and ice cold, just the way that Stallone was not. THIS is the version of Judge Dredd that we have been waiting for and it deserve a movie sequel.

this is not a complaint about the film, (you are absolutely right Urban was spot on Dredd, and I would pay to see a sequel in a heartbeat.) I was however amazed at how much the film was almost a polar opposite of the 1995 Stalone one. The few things that film got right (the very few I might add) The new film seemed to ignore such as the architecture and vehicles (the bad guys drove a vow minibus for cryin out loud!) And in reverse the original film got, characters, and story oh so wrong. And Anderson, though less flippant than the comic was awesome.

I think they were not trying to create a whole world like Stallone tried to do by adding a conspiracy that threatened to bring down the Hall of Justice. This was more a 'day in the life' kind of movie that got to the heart of what being a Judge was all about. I am sure that with a larger budget we could have got some cool MegaCity One stuff.
