If You Remember, Then You Are My People

It difficult to guess what the going rate is for a second hand medium that is no longer being made anyway. I've seen prices range from 25 to 50 cents to some clueless morons who think they're going to clean house by pricing as high as two dollars.; June 8, 2013 at 9:18 AM

Erik Johnson Illustrator said...: This is a good question. Often I'll invest in a CHS tape when its something I haven't seen, but want to watch, and a used copy will be cheaper than renting. Once I'm done, just chuck it in the Library's donation bin. I still have plenty of tapes for movies that I haven't gotten around to getting in a newer format.

I have my VHS copy of "Treasure Planet" that I've probably watched half a dozen times. I bought it for a dollar, but since its a Disney feature the cheapest new DVD I'll be able to find is at least ten, so I'm gonna hold on to that one for a while longer.

I still have the original CG-Free Star Wars Trilogy that I'm hanging onto until Disney wises up and releases the untouched originals on a new format.I haven't had time to watch them in a while, but they are a pride of ownership item.

My copy of "From Russia with Love" got garbled up when I watched last weekend. I got it for a dime so I can't complain all that much about the quality of a used tape. I wouldn't go out of my way to replace it with a DVD unless I was looking at a really good deal.; June 8, 2013 at 9:43 AM

They had four layers of music on the tape strip and they would cycle through one then switch to another to continue the album... sometimes in the middle of a song! And as they got older the tracks would start to "bleed" into each other and you could year them all playing at the dame time.; June 8, 2013 at 12:56 PM

Calvin's Canadian Cave Of Cool Manifesto

I forever stand vigilant to protect this planet from the myriad of forces that are always against us. Be it the octopus, zombies, aliens or the robots my team of human agents, and our feline allies, circle the globe in a never ending struggle for human freedom.

I learn all I can on every subject that interests me. I especially enjoy ancient history because in the past there are valuable lessons to be found. Also, if I ever get my time machine to work properly, it would be good to know a bit about possible destinations and what to expect when I get there.

I greatly appreciate beautiful design. Be it manufactured or found naturally I am fascinated by the process of invention. I am attracted to the unique, the strange, the haunted. I like to share what I find on this blog.

And not let us forget the 'Cephalopod Menace' who, if allowed to, would wrap their tentacles around all that is good and pure in this life and crush it until it remained no more. They are creatures of pure spite. Hate is all they know. Death is all they do. They are our most ruthless and determined enemy.

So we fight. Selena has the celebrity contacts, the cat is ruthless and without pity, Roosevelt's ghost has the experience and I do the wetwork.

Fighting for the future of the planet doesn't have to be a chore, however. We can take the time to appreciate all that is cool in this world even as we cut the octopus into bite sized chunks.

This is the reason there has always been and must forever be, a Cave of Cool. Be sure to wipe your feet before you enter.
