I guess Paul Rudd is cast as Scott Lang so they do have a younger actor doing all the action sequences. I guess the whole Pym as Ant Man thing may be a distant memory when this movie begins. I am interested in seeing where this one is going. It could be a train wreck or it could be Marvel's best superhero movie ever.
Though plot details for ‘Ant-Man’ are currently under wraps, the film is presumed to follow the same storyline from “To Steal an Ant-Man,” an episode from animated series ‘Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ that Wright referenced as inspiration. In it, Lang is a thief who steals Pym’s size-shrinking suit to rob banks, and later redeems himself and becomes a hero.
There is a third version of the Ant Man character Eric O'Grady who had a series called the Irredeemable Ant Man.
Eric O'Grady is a low-level agent of S.H.I.E.L.D who stumbles upon Dr. Henry Pym's latest incarnation of the Ant-Man suit in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters. A man of very few morals and willingness to lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate in order to get ahead in life, Eric immediately steals the armor for his own selfish plans, which include using his status as a "super-hero" to stalk women and facilitate his thievery. A running theme with the character is his evil side clashing with a desire to be accepted by others, which leads to Eric vowing to renounce his evil ways and become a proper hero, leading to a cycle of the character relapsing and vowing to "change".
If you notice this kind of character would also fit very well into the Agents of SHIELD TV show. I can see May chasing him out of her shower wrapped only in a towel and threatening to kill him once he returns to normal size.
I love this test footage that director Edgar Wright came up with to shoot proof of concept.

Now will Catherine Zeta Jones be the top contender to play The Wasp or will the movie universe totally ignore their long term but abusive relationship. It was already a part of the Ultimate Avengers animated feature.

Not sure what to make of this news. Douglas feels too old to make it a franchise. While I'm sure he'll bring credibility, I wonder if will still be as fun as I thought when it was just Paul Rudd.
I have a weird feeling that they have all this stuff worked out. An elder Pym could have been a 60s Cold War hero like in his comic book beginnings but now is a research scientist.
I could see that. Maybe it'll be a mentor relationship/train the new guy kind of dynamic.
