Chuck Yeager was the very model of the 'Right Stuff'. Should have been an astronaut but he didn't have a college education having been one of the greatest test pilots ever. The mere fact he survived those days to reach age 97 says everything about his skills as a pilot. Before someone could walk on the Moon, someone had to go faster than the speed of sound and survive the experience. Chuch Yeager was that pilot.
